Can anyone help?
« on: Monday 11 April 05 13:13 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to trace my husbands family for a good 2 years without success.
I am looking for the parents of Charles Walden/Waldin/Waldron.
The reason for the long list of variations is that when Charles was born he was registered as WALDIN, i found a link to his father on the LDS site who had the surname WALDRON but the family name is now WALDEN  ::)
Without confirmation i am at a loss and now have found out that Charles was born 1847 in Alvechurch but his family are not on the worcestershire 1851 census.
He married Elizabeth Catherine Bennett in 1876 and are known to be in Alvechurch in 1881 and 1891 at the bakery in Alvechurch.
Any help would be much appreciated.

there is still a WEATHEROAK HILL in alvechurch, connecting alvechurch with wythall and beoley.  im pretty sure there wasnt a weatherhood hill.  it is mainly farmland and large (expensive!) houses on weatheroak hill

Hi Carol
This is a bit of a long shot but can someone look at an 1851 census image for George Walden age 35 (2047/823). There is a Charles Walden there too and I wonder if the age has been mis- transcribed?

Hi folks!

Gardnener - I've checked the Charles Walden with George Walden in 1851 on the original image and he's definitely down as 13, so 10 years out. Pity  :(

I don't have access to the actual images but another kind Rootschatter may be able to look them up for you if they think they are possibilities.

All Charles born Alvechurch living in Worcestershire:

1851

Charles Ward b. 1848
Charles Whadevat b. 1842

1861

Charles Waldron b. 1848

Think I've got Charles in 1861, still in Weatheroak Hill (thanks for the pointer - it's difficult to read!) -

Ref RG9 2118 Folio 116 Page 5 - Weatheroak Hill, Alvechurch

Richard Quiney - Head -  Mar - 38 - Cord Winder and farmer of 36 acres employing one boy - Warwickshire, Lambourn
Mary Quiney - Wife - Mar - 39 - Farmers wife - Warwickshire, Birmingham
Emila (Amila?) Quiney - dau - 11 - Scholar - Worcestershire, Alvechurch
Charles Waldron - Apprentice - 13 - Cord Winder (app) - Worcestershire, Alvechurch

Looking in 1851, the only possibility I can find is a Charles Ward - do you know the father's name so we could check out if this is a mis-spelled entry?

Best wishes

Angela
