Hello I am Felix Bannigan's niece. I am James Bannigan's daughter (James was born in 1921). They were brought up in the Long Hill and later James and Fely lived in Dublin. There were 3 girls and three boys in the family. The last living in the family is Sister Bridget who now lives in Belfast.

Thanks for the info on Felix.  The Felix you are referring to is probably the great-grandson of the Felix I am looking for (Died in Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ireland in 1881)
I am pretty sure that most of the Bannigans originated in this area (at least that is as far back as I have managed to trace them).  Felix seems to be a name that recurs quite often as Felix was also the name of Felix's (D. 1881) father.
If you have any info on your Felix's ancestry I would be very interested to see it.

hi - your bannigan in monaghan ireland - I did answer des whom you wrote to - about my bannigan.
They all seem to be related to mine.
Have a james smith b 1823 monaghan who came to fife and married into my kirk side of the tree ( he was my gt gt granda) - he had lodgers living with them in fife scotland
who were related to each other in ireland
the 2 sisters of james smith - mary smith married peter bannigan - their child mary married michael smith.
rose smith another sister of james smith married peter bannigan their children were
1. james bannighan b 1861 ireland - bernard bannigan b 1861 - john bannigan b 1877 (he married agnes smith - james daughter) they had cousins of the marriage cert

wonder if this ties up with your felix bannigan - maybe further back - please let me know - tks bambie

Hi my G grandmother Mary Ann Bannigan was the daughter of Felix Bannigan and Mary Clifford she would have been born around 1869 she married in 1892 in Glasgow on certificate Felix is shown as deceased. Regards Glf

Thank you Dathai  for linking the birth of Mary Ann Brannigan and the death of Felix, Wound to the head wonder accident or not ?? I think that after his death is when Mary Bannigan must have moved over to Glasgow.

Thank you Kiltaglasson for the link to Mary Bannigan death, it shows age 75yrs looking at other records the age is out a couple of years but I know this can happen and it means she must have moved back to Ballybay so need to explore that more, but poor woman extensive burns.
