When my Aunt Mae Ellen died a few years ago, my parents scoughed up the family bible so that it would not get bought by non-family at a yard sale. it doesn't have much in it but its got all of the main births/marriages and deaths from Early 1800's to 1940 in it...Most of the dates were hand written with Quill and ink.....
Also found in it when we got it, letter dating from 1890 and 1 earlier.....also obituraries from newspapers as early as 1860(unfortunately don't know which paper.
