Bishop, Collins - Worcester St Helen, St Martin
« on: Tuesday 09 November 10 13:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello there, can anyone help please?

Can any kind soul with access to the parish registers of St Helen & St Martin, look for any Bishop christening, marriage or death between ca 1740 and 1840 or Collins from 1830 to 1840.     I have collected some confusing, duplicated and in some cases incorrect information and would like to clarify exactly what is what.     My eldest ancestors here are Jonathan Bishop born ca 1783 and his wife Mary (Harris) born ca 1786, but possibly not from this area, and who married in 1807.   As well as sorting out the position, I am hoping to obtain any additional info that might be availlable - addresses, occupations, marriage witnesses, etc.

Thank you very much

Hey Victor

Just picked up the message from you.   Wow!  Thanks very much - I shall have to spend some time going through these burials in some detail to see what I can match up.  I can see, off the top of my head, a Jonathan (could he be my 1783 Jonathan?) and a Mary (she may be my 1786 Mary Harris) which look as if they may be interesting, also a Hannah Collins (she may be my Hannah Bishop of around 1809 - if I remember rightly she was the one who died in a factory fire).  I suspect some of these young Collins may be mine too.  Did you have a cd or some transcript of burials or did you just find them in passing?    I could do with getting hold of some such records for the baptisms & marriages somehow.

Anyway - thanks for all this - extremely helpful indeed - I am very grateful.

Regards

Mick

Sorry, I should have said.  Your ancestor burials are extracts from the National Burial Index (NBI)
