Dudley, Joseph Green 1861

Hello
I am currently researching my ancestor's move to Dudley in the late 1850's, early 1860's. I have tracied Joseph and Maria Green living on Wolverhampton Street in 1864 (thanks to their son's birth cert) but can't seem to find the couple in 1861. Although I have looked at the census for that year, I am not finding anything.
Joseph was a Hosier ?? (master) at the time.
Many thanks,
Cassandra

Do you have any clues?
When was Joseph born? Where?
What is his son's name and when was he born?
Have you found Joseph & Maria on later censuses?

1851, Joseph is in Cheltenham working as a Grocer's Assistant.

The age is about right (23 in 1851, so born c 1828) and his place of birth is Charlton, Wiltshire.

Hello to the two that have answered,
You are right! You are both right! I have been hunting for ages, trying to find the family. And there he was all along, hiding under the name of Josh and not Joseph. I was also thrown by the mention of an additional daughter (one that has not been in my research for later years). Eliza must have died quite young as she did not travel to the states with her family in 1867. She isn't listed on the passenger list, anyway.
Thank you so very very much. I really had hit a block.
All this information has been tremendously useful. I am actually going to Dudley soon to visit the places where the family walked/lived as part of a massive art tour I am planning for 2011.
Thanks again,
Cassandra

Hi,
What an interesting project you are planning, very impressed.
Have amended post but just to make it clear ,on actual image it is the abbreviated form of Joseph, not Josh ie. Jos'h.
Good luck with your tour.

Hello Cath,
Oooh, so is that what the tiny 'h' up to the right means...that it's an abbreviation. Is it obvious I'm still a bit new to this.
As ever, all suggestions, pointers, anything are welcome,
