Nicholson family
« on: Friday 05 November 10 07:38 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone please help me find descendants of Walter Hills Nicholson MC of Wokingham (1892-1943). He served with the Royal Fusiliers in the First World War and was next heard of when, as a flight lieutenant in the RAF, he was killed on the 15th February 1945.

Thanks

Am going to move this thread to Berkshire board since that's where Walter was from but Rootschat isn't a forum for tracing living relatives so if anyone can help with recent information they can send it to you by PM (personal message). Meanwhile, have a look at links to hints on tracing living people in Help pages-

Sorry the year of death of Walter Hills Nicholson is 1943 according to an article in The Times. But he started off in the Royal Fusiliers in which he was awarded the Military Cross. Then there is a long silence until 1943. I would like to know what happened in between.

Yes, you are perfectly correct and they could be alive - apologies. I'll forget the descendants and settle for information on Walter during World War I and up to World War II.

Hi probably a bit old now, but here is some info:

A friend and I have been researching the names on Wokingham's War Memorial. There are three brothers of Walter who were killed in the Great War. We posted their biographies and trees quite recently: http://www.wokinghamremembers.com/?page_id=812 If you go to the surname bar you will find the other two. If you have found anything on Walter, I will be honoured to post it on the site - this was a tragic brave family.
