i'm searching for above family - my 3x gt grandfather was a Robert Oulton b. circa 1806 at Barthomley nr. Crewe Cheshire.  Are you any relation please?!

Hi,
I have John Oulton b. 1832 who married Jane Ford in 1854 at Barthomley. Jane is the sister of my g-g-grandmother Eliza Ford.

John's father was Robert Oulton. I have no more details yet but he would have been born in the Barthomley area about the time of your Robert.

I have a number of Oultons from the Barthomley/Alsager/Stapeley area cropping up in my tree - they seem to have a thing about marrying into the Fords and Thornhills who are my ancestors.

Hi again,
It looks like my John Oulton's father was Robert Oulton born 4 Feb 1806 who married Mary Whittaker. He died 16 May 1888 (I think, gravestone difficult to read) and she died 14 Sept 1882.

They are buried at Barthomley and I have a photo of the gravestone as well as other Oulton graves.

Yes, Robert b. 1806 was father - have details of John's grave at Barthomley. b. 1832 died 1869 aged 38, m. Jane b. circa 1832 d. 1863 aged 31.  Believe they farmed at Stapeley, nr Nantwich.  Had 1 daughter Anne, who survived? - b. circa 1856 died 1946 aged 90- unmarrried - Know that she lived at Alsager in the 1900's - However following the death of her parents stayed with uncles Basford at Stapeley & Whittaker at Radway Gn. See Census for 1871 - 1901.
Do you have any info of Robert Oulton's or Mary Whittaker's ancestors by any chance?!

Hi June,
I have transcriptions of Barthomley St Bertoline parish registers:

8 Mar 1827 Robert Oulton m. Mary Whittaker. No parents names given.

6 Mar 1806 Robert's baptism has his parents as Richard and Mary Ann.

Note the parish register gives his birth as 5 Feb 1806 but his gravestone has 4 Feb 1806.

It seems my great grandfather william moss was working
has a agriculural labourer for your john oulton at the time
of the 1861 census in stapeley he must have taught him
the trade well has he had his own farm in worcestershire
in 1901 small world isnt it

Thank you for your message about your Gt Grandfather William - John Oulton was brother  to my Gt Gt Grandfather Robert Oulton b. 1833, so suppose that makes him my Gt Gt Uncle!  It's very interesting isn't it?  Have you read Peter's (Pepsi62) messages & replies, about John's wife Jane Oulton ( nee Ford), her sister - Eliza being his Gt Gt Grandmother!
