Healless or Ellis?
« on: Thursday 04 November 10 21:06 GMT (UK) »
Ann - born Snitterby, Lincolnshire 1843; married Cooper Franklin 24 June 1865 at Scawby Wesleyan Chapel, Lincolnshire. On the marriage cert. she is named Healless, father William Healless. The only match I can get from the 1851 and 1861 census are Ann Ellis. Given that she marked her marriage certificate, could the Healless be the wrong name. Any thoughts? anyone else with this problem? Any comments much appreciated.

Hi on the 1851 Census there is an Ann Healess aged 21 occ Housemaid living in Scawby and born Worlaby Lincs

Census Ref HO107/2116/02/1

I appreciate the age is out a bit, but the surname and location hit the right note!

Keyboard86, you are absolutely right, I have already been there - her father is James and she married Mr Cooper - My Ann married Cooper Franklin - strangly similar - and even they were written in 1841 as Ellis.

All the later census records I have got give her birth as Snitterby.

Yes Geoff, being unable to write, would she know the name on her marriage cert was wrong?

Hi, my line is Healless from Worlaby, Lincs and I have a Ann Healless bap 21/11/1830 but her father is George Ellis (Healless) She married Thomas COOPER in 1858, rather a coincidence in names wouldn't you say. If you require any further details let me know. cheers Sandra

Thanks Sandra,
Not my line I'm afraid, at least not yet!  I traced George and his children when I first got the marriage cert.  but it didn't lead me in the right direction.  I do have a match for 1851 - Ann Elice, father William, living and born in Snitterby 1843.   I need now to look at the local records, and that is unlikely before summer!
If you do come across a William Ellis/Healless/Ellice etc bn 1807, Holton le More, he could be mine!
