Waldron, Hammond
« on: Thursday 04 November 10 07:05 GMT (UK) »
I am  trying to find the parents of William Hammond, tanner of Lewes who was born c.1734 and who died 1780. His wife, Ann, was buried at Waldron and other family information points to a strong link with Waldron.  There do not appear to be any entries for Waldron on the IGI and so I am hoping that there is someone who has access to that information who can point me in the right direction.

It would appear that William belonged to the Hammond family of Waldron who were also tanners and who had had the tannery there for several generations according to the Rev. John Ley who wrote a book on Waldron in 1861. Rev. Ley also states that the earliest entry for Hammond in the register was in 1566. I would love to trace that!
