i am looking for help in tracing a james mcfagan born c1895 in markinch.
i have him on the 1891 census;
james dick  born auchtermuchty- head
maggie dick born markinch        - daughter
james mcfagan born markinch   -grandson.
i have tried scotpeeps with no luck.

Can you check your dates - either birthyear is wrong or census year is wrong

1891 cen- age 6 so c 1885.

Have you viewed the actual 1891 image?  The transcription is McFargan

Have you checked the 1901?  If you do - he is shown as James Dick and "Maggie" now Margaret is married to William Kerr.  James is shown as stepson

There is a birth on SP for a James McFarlane Dick born Markinch 1885.  Didn't have enough credits to view
certificate.
