Hi,

Thanks!  I believe the mother, Sarah Simpson, may have died too by 1825.  Is there a burial for either John Simpson (c. 1821), the son, or Sarah Simpson the mother perhaps between 30-40 years old.

Thanks,

Diane

Hi Diane

I could only see the baby Sarah -  is it possible they moved and other burials occurred in another parish?

Thanks again, Jan!!  It's quite possible that they moved around within London.  I don't think that the second baby John Simpson actually died young, but lived some time on to have a daughter Emma Simpson -- just wanted to check.

Is it possible for you to look up the following marriage in Saint Pancras?:

John Simpson married Mary Ann Moore  17 SEP 1843,  Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, England.

Thanks,

Diane

Thanks, Jan, for spending your time helping me.  I'm running out of ideas and I'll have to think about this more.  But when you get the chance can you look up two final christening records for me and then I'll have to think about what I have?:

Mary Anne Simpson born to John and Mary Ann Simpson
04 JUN 1843  Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, England (born 16 DEC 1840).

and then look for an Emma Simpson christened around 1841-44 in Saint Pancras

[Note the record no one could find: Emma Simpson born to John and Mary Ann Simpson
25 JUN 1843  St Pauls, Hammersmith, London, England (born 8 May, 1842).]

Best regards,

Diane

The extra info on Mary Anne's baptism - abode Collier Place, occupation Bricklayer
They also had a John Henry baptised Dec 17 1843 Collier Place bricklayer
No Emma that I could see. On 1851 census they have a William age 3 and Jemma 1 plus Mary Ann 10 but no John Henry and are living in Clerkenwell - John senior is 28 born  ??? I can't read it,  it is indexed as St Pancras.

I note Mary Ann was born 1840 before the 1843 marriage to Mary Ann Moore, on the 1841 census there is

Anns Place St Pancras
John Simpson 15 Bricklayer
Mary Simpson 15
Mary Simpson 6mo
All born in county
HO107/685/18/31 Pg53
In 1841 ages were rounded down for those over 15 so 15 is 15-19

There is a marriage for John Simpson and Ann Mary Sweetland 15 July 1840 and a death for a Mary Ann Simpson Mar qtr 1841 Pancras District which could be her.

Hi Jan,

Thank you so much for all of your help -- it is greatly appreciated by me.  As I was saying earlier I will have to think more about this and where to go from here.  Take care!

Hi Diane

You've got quite a task on - John Simpson seems almost as common as John Smith! If you need any more look-ups don't hesitate to ask.

For the sake of completeness

Jemima Simpson born Feb 8 1849 baptised Clerkenwell St Philip Sep 19 1852 parents John and Mary Ann abode 40 Margaret St occupation Bricklayer
Jane born Jul 31 1852 baptised same day

Regards
Jan ;)

Hi Jan,

Thank you for your last entry! Every little bit helps and this John Simpson is definitely a complicated mystery for my Pottinger family that originates in Berkshire. Do you only specialize in look-ups in the London area or are there other areas within England as well?

Thanks again and you're so kind!

Take care!

Diane
