« on: Tuesday 02 November 10 05:35 GMT (UK) »
I'm tracing Colliss family Samuel b 1799 Warwickshire, m Catherine Bloomer, children Joseph (transported to Australia 1842 for stealing shoes, my descendant), Emma b 1828, Hannah b 1832, Alfred b 1836. Alfred (gold engraver married Ann ? milliner, lived Southwark 1861. Would like to go further back if possible, and know what happened to Joseph's siblings, if any came to Australia?

COLLISS

There is no surviving 1890 Census for the USA... not seeing them on the 1900 Census as yet.

Hi

Looks like when he was baptised Alfred was given the second name of Benjamin....

Baptism Register
Saint Phillips Birmingham
Warwickshire
Born 29th Feb 1836
Baptised 3rd Oct 1836
Alfred Benjamin COLLISS
Father = Samuel COLLISS
Mother = Catherine

FreeBMD shows this marriage..

Marriages Index December Quarter 1859
King's Norton Warwickshire
Volume 6c Page 758
COLLIS Alfred Benjamin
JOSEBURY Ann

Of course to be absolutely sure you should purchase this marriage certificate to confirm father's name for Alfred.

Cheers

Hi Karenlee :)

The entry for Mary Ann on F/S Pilot is a bit confusing but as she appears in 1851 Census I think it has been mistranscribed and marriage info confirms DOB .
Christened 16 Aug 1820
Birth 30 May 1830

Trish.
