« on: Tuesday 02 November 10 03:55 GMT (UK) »
Seeking information on the Sloggie family of Montrose. Understand some were buried at the Churchyard Montrose. Would like to connect with anyone having knowledge of the Sloggie lineage, where they orginated from.

Thank you

Hello DDJJake,

Have connected with someone who is related to Francis, b.1819. The party spells the name as Slogie and I have seen it as Sluggie.

David Sloggie, Murray St.,  is also listed as a Shoemaker on the 19/09/1841 marriage bann cert to Elizabeth Turner, Kincardine St.

Elizabeth being my 2nd great grandmother.

Thanks

Hi SeaOcean0,
I have contacted my cousin and asked her for her direct line back to Alex and Christian (1814).
I will Personal Message you with this when I receive word from her.

Hi
I have some info on a strand of the Sloggies.
My wife's maternal grandfather's second wife was Mabel Lavinia Chalmers Sloggie; her father was James Alexander Sloggie married to Lavinia Chalmers. His father was William Sloggie married to Jane Kinnear and then Ann Barclay. William's father was Alexander Sloggie married to Christian Smith on 27 Mar 1814.
As it is an unusual name it is easier to follow than some. Hope this helps in adding some information
regards

Hi Alastair,
We had William born c. 1835 was in both 1841 and 1851 Censuses, but not in the OPRs. However, his 1855 Marriage to Jane Kinnear shows his parentage clearly in the GRO image. James born 1858 is in the 1881 Census with father William and step-mother Ann Barclay ... but as it would cost me more credits, I did not look further for his marriage to Lavinia etc etc etc
You could perhaps Personal Message me with these details down to your wife (year of B/M/Ds will suffice for privacy)  ... and I can then e-mail my cousin Linda Robertson with data about your wife as another 4th Cousin sharing Alexander and Christian Smith as GGG Grandparents. I will then reciprocate with Linda's data (and GRO images) by e-mail attachments if you wish, after we exchange e-mail addresses.
