excellent thank you very much, i actually went and checked his medals for service no and they match. another piece to the jigsaw.

Have you checked the site www.northirishhorse.com.au? it gives so much information on this regiment, including War Diaries.  A photograph of Philip James Balmer to add to the photographs of his fellow soldiers would be valued.  Hope you can help.

yes i have checked the site, excellent work. i do have a photo of Philip and will send it to you shortly. Philip also appeared in the new years honours list in jan. 1958.
