The details my mother has supplied me with as
father James Brown b 1869 Quarnford d 1947
mother Frances Coppock b abt 1868 Bosley d 1905
children
Arthur Ellis 19.3 1894 Manchester
Ada Mary 14.7 1896 Ardwick (is this in Manchester????)
Alice
Amy Florence 28.6 1899 Manchester

Yes, Ardwick is in Manchester.

Lancashire BMD has the following birth registrations:
Arthur Ellis Brown - registered Ardwick, Manchester - 1894
Ada Mary Brown - registered Ardwick, Manchester - 1895
Alice May Brown - registered Ardwick, Manchester - 1898
Amy Florence Brown - registered Ardwick, Manchester - 1899

Ardwick came under the Chorlton registration district so the same birth registrations on FreeBMD are:

Births Jun quarter 1894
BROWN Arthur Ellis - Chorlton - Vol 8c - Page 753

Births Sep quarter 1895
BROWN Ada Mary - Chorlton - Vol 8c - Page 844

Births Jun quarter 1898
BROWN Alice May - Chorlton - Vol 8c - Page 778

Births Sep quarter 1899
BROWN Amy Florence - Chorlton - Vol 8c - Page 784

I had wondered if maybe she was in hospital, but you have found not so. I don't really know where anything is in England at all. is the place where Alice May was....is it nearby to the rest of her family or what???

The only marriage I can find on FreeBMD for a James Brown to a Frances Coppock is:
Marriages Sep quarter 1893
BROWN James - Macclesfield - Vol 8a - Page 262
COPPOCK Frances - Macclesfield - Vol 8a - Page 262

Same marriage on CheshireBMD:
James BROWN to Frances COPPOCK 1893
Civil Marriage, Macclesfield
Registers at Cheshire East - Ref MRO/13/191

Macclesfield is between Leek and Manchester. (13 miles from Leek and 18 Miles from Manchester)
