Titterington of Preston - Lancaster

Hi I'm looking for information on Elizabeth Titterington who was born in 1842 Preston Lancashire and moved to Lancaster and married (second Wife) of Septimus Brown  Who was born 1st June 1829 any information on Elizabeth is  most welcome.

Not sure what information you are after.
Have checked pilot family search and have found an Elizabeth TITTERINGTON baptism at St Johns , Preston 12 August 1842. Parents William and Margaret

has same baptism but living at Rose Street.Father being a blacksmith.
Hope its the right one but if not I am perfecting my typing skills.

Thank you for the info , I had her birth in Preston but not her parents names or an address, Im hoping for a few details on her life in Lancaster and her DOD if poss I have tried BMD indexes but no luck.

Hi,

Elizabeth Titterington was previously married.

From the Lancaster Gazette 29th November, 1884:

On the 24th inst. at the Register Office, Mr Septimus Brown, Sawyer, Moor Road, to MRS  Elizabeth Titterington, Adelaide Street.

Lancashire BMD shows the her alternative surname (possibly maiden name) as Downham. 

Which leads me to this:

Lancaster Gazette 8th January, 1887

On the 1st inst., at High Street Chapel by the Rev. J Baxandall, Mr. Septimus Brown, Sawyer, Parker Street, to Mrs. Elizabeth Page, Aldcliffe Street.

Lancashire BMD shows that her alternative surname was Downham as well.

I notice that her marriage to Septimus was Dec quarter 1884 . I was wondering whether because  Septimus was older than her , there is the possibility that she may have remarried and hence you cannot identify her death
There may be a better chance of trying to help you if we could find the death for Septimus . Do you have either of them on the 1891,1901 census records?
Have you noticed on the Lancs BMD that there are different entries re thier names but not sure if this would help.

Septimus died on 8th jun 1908 ,I don't have where listed, but I think she may be with him.

I only had the marriage to Septimus as 1884 in Lancaster.

With my limited research experience I think I would go about it this way:
The cheapest way first,hence my username
Can you put Septimus and Elizabeth together in a household in the 1901 census? Sorry,I cannot help there as I do not subscribe to A******y.
If you can then it should give you an address and an area. This area could be in the area of Lancaster as this is the County where the death of Septimus was recorded.
Using the search facility on the 1911 census , can you try to find Elizabeth ?
I am trying to narrow it down for her death.

I wonder whether Septimus is buried in a Municipal cemetery as it was 1908 as opposed to a Church. My area (Manchester) has online burial indexes that can be searched . Maybe the Lancaster area has the same facility or someone may know of a cemetery close to their address in 1901.
Sounds like if you find the burial for Septimus , you may find Elizabeth? I can also get details of the Municipal cemeteries at Manchester local studies , could the Lancashire record office have the same?
The last resort would be to buy the death certificate for Septimus to see who registered his death and check his marital status at the time.

With your help I think that I have managed to sort it all out ,Septimus was married 3 times in total.
The first was Sarah Shuttleworth who died 18 Feb 1882. He then married twice more before the next census both wives named Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Downham b 22 Mar 1831  Lancaster Farther William Downham mother Sarah.
She then married Thomas Titterington  03 Oct 1847 in Lancaster and he died 1873 in Lancaster.
As Mrs Elizabeth Titterington she then married Septimus. She died in 1885 in Lancaster

Elizabeth Downham b 1849 Lancaster ,farther John Downham  mother Mary.
She married  Robert Page 1872 in Lancaster.  She then married Septimus.

Info from 1871 census Lancaster
Thomas Titterington  Occupation Silk Carder,  Wife Elizabeth,  Cotton Winder.

Robert Page  38  Roller Carder  Cotton Mill.
wife Elizabeth 33

1851 census Lancaster
John Downham, wife Mary ,  daughter Elizabeth  age 1.

1881 census Lancaster
5 Adelaide Street,  Elizabeth Titterington ,Head,W, 51, Winder  cotton.
son William 23. son John 21.
