Hello all,

Just stumbled on this thread a couple of days ago after doing one of those DNA tests and being sent a copy of my family tree, the tree was researched by my late Auntie Laura, Durham born and bred, the name Jervis pricked up my ears as his name is mentioned on my tree, his father being John Forrester of Corstorphine, who is my 5th g grandfather(?) and his mother Mary Lightwood. I remember talking to my auntie about the tree maybe 25 or so years ago, and she mentioned that John Forrester was as far as she could get, no further records existed as far as she knew, mainly to Henry VIII and his church burning exercises. I’d be fascinated to see if my (our) tree goes back any further, sort of carry on where Auntie left off. Hope to hear from someone soon

Hello AndyForr

Great to see people searching for history. I have been reading about it for a few years and still find it fascinating.
would be great to hear about your little anecdote about a watch and your grandfather.
I am fairly sure we had watch makers in our family.

As it happens I was just checking this thread to see if there were any updates. I am just nearing the end of my re-write and it is in blog form.

Best wishes Martin

Just checked back and read the posts.Hi AndyForr.
Still keeping an eye out for DNA matches. No new info but did have a look at Emanuel Forresters mining area on the tithe map at Wryley, for those with a Wyrley interest.
This is just the area identified on the Tithe map circa 1842
