I am trying to trace the baptism and parents of Jane Raw who was born in 1869 in Loftus Yorkshire. She married Joseph Husband in 1890 in Guisborough R D.

Do you have Jane's marriage certificate. That should confirm her father's name.

This seems to be a likely candidate for Jane's birth.

Mar 1869, Guisborough, 9d/444

Her birth certificate would give names of both parents.

The only marriage I can see for a Thomas Raw to Elizabeth (?) has been registered as Thomas Roe. It could possibly be the right person but I think Jane's birth certificate is your best option now.

Hi,  looked up Teesside Archives Baptism for Loftus St.Leonards 1843 / 1877 today.
Found no record of a Jane Raw around 1869.

Hi David,

Found this in a friends tree - he has Joseph Husband married to Jane Raw - she is the daughter of Thomas Raw (born @1832 Egton, Yorkshire, Ironstone Miner) & Elizabeth Welford.

There are no parents listed for Thomas Raw, but Elizabeth is shown as the daughter of John Welford (born @1797 Brotton, YKS, Farmer) and Mary Moon (born @1799 Hinderswell, YKS).

The line continues back from John Welford another 2 generations.

Not sure of the sources, but should give you something to go on.

My friends grandfather was Alfred Husband, son of Joseph & Jane.  He emigrated to Australia in 1924.
