Hello wildcamper and welcome to the site.

You've posted on the Cheshire board so we might be able to help you with your query about the Farmer surname in Widnes - can you provide some names and dates and let us know what information you are looking for?

You would be best to put a separate post on the Bedfordshire board for you Evans relatives,

Hope this helps,

Jean

thanks Allen but im nowhere near those names yet i,m still trying to find my grandfather and he only died in the late nineties, (1990s),  but thanks anyway for taking the time to reply to my post, i will keep those names in mind for future reference, once ive got my grandfathers 1st name, (proving very difficult), im hoping things will become a lot easier as ive seen a lot of farmers in widnes in the 1800s so hopefully i can start putting things together, just the 1st hurdle is very very hard to jump at the mo.

once  again thanks

regards

ps if anyone knows of a Farmer who died in the mid/late 1990s in widnes, probably lived in the area in what is now an asda carpark, he must of been in his eightees or nineties as my only recollection is from 30 yrs ago and i remember him being elderly then, but thats only the memory of an 8 yr old, so maybe not very reliable, not much to go on i know, thats why im finding it hard work.
any help greatly appreciated

regards

Hi Mike,

The following are FARMER deaths in the Halton Registration district for the period you are looking at - Halton is the district that covers Widnes:

Harold FARMER  b 1900 died 1987
Stanley Marshall FARMER b 1904 died 1991
Edgar FARMER b 1909 died 1994
Joseph FARMER b 1912 died 1983
William Valentine FARMER b 1919 died 1981
John FARMER b 1924 died 1989

Your best route would be to find the birth certificate of your parent from the FARMER side of the family if possible - as I'm not sure how you are going to know which one of the deaths refers to your family member.  The certificate will give you both the father's first and second names and the mother's first and maiden names.

thanks for that jdgen, really appreciate the help, i know my fathers full name just not his birthday, i spoke to a friend yrs ago briefly who was in widnes around 86 and he said my grandfather was alive then, so that narrows it down to 4 of them,so im now going to do some math against how old my father is when he married my mother,(she was 21), so i dont think he could have been more than ten years older than her if that even, so hopefully that will narrow it down even more.

once again thanks

Mike, your fathers birth record should contain his mothers maiden name.  You can then do a search of a farmer marrying a girl with your mothers maiden name in prescot regsitration district 10 years prior to your fathers birth.

Do you know roughly when your father was born ?
