 Hi John,
Now I'm sure these are the children that David Angus & Jane had except the date for James is a year later.

Stuart.

Hi Stuart,

Looks like there could be more than one family involved here. Three  ??? ???
Just shows the importance of getting names and dates correct - and never assuming anything.
Hope the following might help to untangle this family.

James Angus born       7 th May 1878 ??
 from BDM
1878/12018   Angus    James    Margaret   Alexander (Birth date 10 Jul 1878)
1879/14356   Angus    James    Jane   David  (Birth date 17 May 1879)

1879/14356   Angus    James    Jane   David

William Angus            18 th Aug 1880
Parents from BDM
1880/15192   Angus    William    Jane   David

Elizabeth A Angus       14 th Mar 1882
Parents from BDM
1882/1059   Angus    Elizabeth Annie    Jane   David

Harry B Angus            16 th Apr 1884
Parents from BDM
1884/14040   Angus    Harry    Jane   David

Catherine Angus         25 th Dec 1886
 from BDM
1886/12939   Angus    Catherine    Catherine   William Longman (birth 25 May 1886)
1886/829   Angus    Catherine    Jane   David (birth 25 Dec 1885 - but registered 1886)

As most of the children you mentioned have parents Jane and David, it looks like the Catherine born to William Longman Angus might be a red herring - and your correct Catherine has parents Jane and David  ??? ::) ???

Althea,
Yes I am a descendant of David Angus, He was my Great grandfather

John , It looks like I jumped to conclusion with Catherine because I had thought her husband was William longman and I can find no marriage on BDM for her , I expect the only way to find out is her grace stone.

regard to both stuart.

Hi Stuart,

Glad to hear you are getting it sorted out.

Note dates in red above are from BDM and quite likely more accurate than those you listed.

Good Luck  :D

Hi there,

I have just noticed several comments re the Angus family and, as I am a descendant of William Longman Angus, born at Eday, Orkney Isles 28th Nov 1859, I thought I'd drop you a line. He had a brother called  David Angus - born before or after that date ( I need to find the details i have stored somewhere). He had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. There has always been a David Angus in each generation moving forward from the mid 1850s.  I am just about to starting going backwards. again, and I do have all those DOB to start working on  so if there might be anything helpful/we are in the same ball-park let me know.  I think the place is important. I am fairly certain that  this Angus family were all from the same place.

I have gone back and looked and it appears that the first Catherine Angus that I have married William Henry Davis 31 st Dec 1875 Blackford Perthshire & the second married Thomas Harkness 26 th Dec 1911 Dunedin NZ
Death Certificate...
there maybe Catherine's further back that those dates but I have not investigated yet.
