Hi EDO

I am unsure which link you are referring to .  Is it the link between Charles the architect and William the Attorney?  I looked William up in "Kings Inns Admission Papers" but the entry is quite sparse saying only that he was an attorney in 1799.

If we assume that Charles and William were brothers, their father was Rev Edward Cottrell 1708-1788, who was the son of Alderman Francis Cottrell d. 1716 who was Mayor of Cork in 1703.  These links are documented by various leases and deeds.

You said that Richard was catholic.  Charles was protestant but the difference in religion does not surprise me as in my own family,Jermyn, there are a number of mixed marriages at much the same time.  Marriages between the same class may have been more important than religion.

John Cottrell is a new one to me but will be added to my list of unattached Cottrells. Any info you would like, just ask

Hi, I have just viewed your post from 2010.  I am a descendant of Elizabeth Butlers brother Thomas. His daughter Mary was my great great grandmother.  I am very interested in expanding the family tree and including the Cottrells to fill in a little more about Mary Butlers arrival in Sydney.  Her shipping record makes note of the fact that she had an Aunt Elizabeth in Sydney.  If you have information back beyond Thomas and Elizabeth Butler I also am very interested in that as well.  Cheers

Hello,
A little more information found on William and Ann COTTRELL and family - apparently they had a connection with BLACK ROCK CASTLE in Cork.

Also in " Lord Mayor of Cork" History( in earlier days they were known as Mayors of Cork )and the records go way back to the 1100's
FRANCES COTTRELL. IS LISTED AS BEING MAYOR IN 1705 and formerly SHERRIF in 1700.

Hi Harriets,  I am still researching the Cottrells in New South Wales and their connections. A couple of questions.  Are you able to give me a link to the Burridge Family site if it is not a closed site.  If it is I understand.  Also do you have in your extended ancestry any O'Neills. in particular an Edward O'Neill and his wife Charlotte. Her maiden name was O'Brien.  Cheers, Ian
