Hello Gilbert,

I have Scotts (Maternal) baptised in St. Annes from 1841 - 1852, (that I know of).  My GGG Grandparents were William & Sarah Scott.  Their son, William was my GG Grandfather. Their children were:-

Hugh b1841
Agnes b 1843
James b 1845
William b 1847
Mary b 1848
Henry b 1850
John b 1852

Could they be the same Scotts that you are researching?

Then.........  My paternal side are Scotts...

My G grandfather was Thomas Beattie Scott, born 1866c.  His father was also called Thomas and I know nothing more about this side prior to 1866!!

Let me know if there could be any connections.

Thanks,

Melonsmum

Hi Carol,

What denomination were your Donaldson, Ralston, Scott  and Wilson ancestors?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards but when the registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date.

I also have Scotts from Belfast born in St Annes, and it is a VERY COMMON SURNAME!

For me:
GGF: Edward James Scott
b Belfast 1892, moved to Toronto in 1916
(Married Jane Crawford)

His Brothers/Sisters. All born in Belfast.
Lily Scott (b 89), John Scott (b 95), Richard Scott (b 93)

GGGF: James Scott
b Belfast 1852. Married Margaret Loane 1888

GGGGF: James Scott
b Belfast 1828,. Married ???

GGGGGF: James Scott
b Belfast 1802. Married Anne 1827

"James" is also a common surname. Like needles in a haystack.   However, doesnt sound like your Scotts.
