Service record for John William Noon
« on: Friday 22 October 10 12:48 BST (UK) »
Hi
Can anyone help? I'm trying to find information about my Great grandfather John William Noon. The only info I have is the following:
1906 Age 17 Trumpeter Royal Garrison Artillery based in Dunbar Scotland
1959 Died. Retired Gunner Royal Garrison Artillery
I am not sure of his dob but suspect 1888.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Kev

His Medal card looks to be here...if you have ancestry access you can download it in colour.

Awarded the Military Medal according to his card http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=6409697&queryType=1&resultcount=2

MM Cards not on Ancestry  :(

He also forfeited his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal but i think it was returned in 1928?
1914 Star,Clasp and Roses(under fire before Nov 22nd 1914) British War and Victory Medals also.
Looks like he was with 8th Divisional Artilllery Column...Promoted to Bombardier...That last number could be a pre war number...If he has service after 1922 MOD may still have his record you will have to request a copy.
The Form is on the Veterans Agency site.

Many thanks Ady. I'll give the mod a try and see what they have.
