hi my name is dawn i have just recieved my grandmothers birth certificate a muriel constance shorrock born 28 nov 1909 in a military family hospital her father was a bernard shorrock a private R.M.L.I don,t know what that stands for and her mother was a lily shorrock nee nancarrow if possible would you be able to find out there date of births and if there were any other children it would be much appreciated

Hi Dawn,

There is a BERNARD SHORROCK on the 1901 census index aged 19, born Blackburn Lancs,  census area Devon,   occupation 'Navy Men'.    This could be worth a try.

RMLI = Royal Marine Light Infantry so he was in the Royal Marines!

I have now found a birth recorded on Freebmd.

SHORROCK  Bernard    June qtr.  1883    Blackburn District  Vol. 8e   page 375

This looks another good bet!!.
