Hello all,
Yes, it's me again with another puzzle. Please be assured though that I try and exhaust all other options before taking up your good time. Here's the problem:-
Two ancestors who claim to be from a part of Lincolnshire which it turns out that seemingly, they aren't.
William Growcock b. about 1800 in Threekingham (in one census he says he was born in Stow).
William married Lavina Jellis in 1834 in Boston. They can be found on all census forms living in Boston.
Lavina Jellis b. about 1811 and she says she's from Skirbeck, Lincolnshire.
I want to know who their parents where in order to travel further back.
I have trawled through the IGI Skirbeck birth/baptism entries and found nothing of note. I tried as many spelling variants as I can think of - Gellis, Jelous, etc. - similarly with Grocock, Growcock etc.
Also, Lavina Growcock is missing from the 1891 census. She died in 1898. William died in 1882.
Thanks for any help or advice.
David
