From what I have heard, Inverclyde Council staff are incredibly helpful  :) That is great that you have been able to determine who this Charles Williamson was and in this way link it all back to the census entries and family we had in Waterside.

Don't lose hope Carol. The Irish side is hard for most people. In a way you have been fortunate to find the direct links over to Ireland and the right family. I know though that having picked up the trail, you now want to go back further and it can be frustrating.

Keep fingers crossed that someone may recognise these names in the future and be in touch  :)

Thank you I went and checked all of those against the dates I had from the census returns and they were very close so happy I have as near to the right dates as possible now.

Don't think there is any point in ordering any more certificates though as I have the one for Charles and Margaret Harpers wedding so have their fathers names now as Robert Williamson and Hugh Harper (no dates for these two as cert only stated "full age") and I managed to get a few more details from the Harper side using the census returns you guys linked me up with  :)

Does the Irish birth cert give the mothers maiden name the same as the Scottish ones? do you think it would be worth trying to find/ paying for Charles Williamson c1867 birth cert?

Closest I can find in IGI (but can't find in civil index) is Charles Williamson born 15 June 1871 Co.Londonderry- parents Charles Williamson and Alice Bradley

Irish birth certificates list date and place of birth, child's name (if one has been chosen), father's name and occupation, mother's name (including maiden name), name of informant (parent or person present at birth), date of registration.

Thank you.
Don't think that is him though because I got the wedding cert for Charles and Margaret and it has his father listed as Robert Williamson - occupation "Taylor". I am happy that I have the correct cert because I have two more from the Scottish end reguarding their children.
I have no further details on Robert or the mothers name although there was one census return which might have been the correct one having the wifle listed as Eliza.

Hi

The William Williamson in my tree (1896-1947) lived in Kelburn Terr - Port Glasgow- this is the address on his death cert. He is buried in Port Glasgow with his wife Susan Brennan and his brother Charles Williamson (1899 - 1957).
The death of Charles was notified by his brother John Williamson who gives his address in 1957 as  Waterside Londonderry.

I know that William Williamsons father was Charles Williamson who was married twice - Margaret Harper his first wife and then to Eliza Jane Taylor - both of these weddings taking place in Ireland.

Are you related in any way  to this family?
