Modifying an older post
« on: Monday 18 October 10 14:29 BST (UK) »
When a user adds additional information and / or makes corrections to one of their older posts, will the word new appear after a post in order to let viewers know that the original post was changed?

I don't believe the new symbol appears if an exisiting post is modified - only if an new reply is made to the thread.
Maybe you could add a new reply to the end with "first post updated with new/additional info" or something like that?

Or you can add to or change the Subject heading to 'modified' or some such ...  :)

That would make it easier than re-posting the whole thing all over again. :)

Changing the subject line won't bring the post to the top and/or mark it as new though, so no-one would be notified of the changes.
You'll need to add a new reply to mark it as new.
You don't need to repost the "whole thing", just make your adjustments and then add a brief note as a new reply...

Thanks, JustKia,
I just replied to my own post with the word UPDATED added with today's date and the post went to the top of the Westmeath message board. Apparently the word "new" only gets added when someone, other than myself ,replies to my post. :)

It won't show "new" to you if you reply because you have read that message - "new" means that YOU haven't read it. It will however show "new" to everyone else until they read it.

A better method is to add any new information as a reply to the older post.
At the moment we can only see that the post has been modified, but not how.

Bob
