In the 1891 and 1901 census my Grt Grandmother is living at 21 Mountain View Cockermouth.can someone tell me if these were Alms Houses,she is a widow living on Her Own Means.Also is Mountain View is still there.Thank You.Cumbrian

Hi Cumbrian - the road that appears on old maps as Mountain View is now called Lamplugh Road ... but if you look on the wall here - http://tinyurl.com/3adqm4b - you will see a sign.

The house with the black door on the right is No.21 :)

Geoff-E thank you very much for your prompt reply,i live down south now but the amount of times i have been up Lamplugh Rd and never realised that's were Mountain View was,i am visiting Cumbria next month,i belong Workington i will have a drive to Cockermouth and have a look.Thanks Again.Cumbrian
