Hello
He attested on 1st February 1915, in Newcastle, to join the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. The regimental number that he is recorded under is 18119. I think he was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps in 1916 (number 76641) and he rose to the rank of CSM. In 1919 he volunteered for an extra year of service and he was finally discharged on 31st March 1920.
On 13th August 1926, Fred Lathan, aged 38, Engineer and Mrs Lathan, aged 40, both of Croft Cottage, Horsley on Tyne, sailed from Southampton to New Zealand on board the “Ionic”
His wife seems to have been originally called Norena Nesbitt Thompson. On 2nd July 1951 Mrs Norena N Lathan, aged 65, sailed (alone) from London to Wellington, New Zealand on board the “Rangitiki”. Her last address in UK is shown as The Bungalow, Lanchester, Durham.
