Obtaining Pictures
« on: Saturday 16 October 10 06:30 BST (UK) »
Hi All.
I am writing a book and need to copy pictures for use in it, is it best to scan the pics at the highest resolution using a Printer/Scanner or take a digital picture using a small camera? Some of the pics are up to 100 years old.

Hi bilsat :)

If you can scan all the pics at high res, and then resize them so they are the right dimensions for printing, you will get better quality results than if you just photograph them (unless you use a professional setup).

If you need advice about scanning, there is a tutorial at the top of the board.  There is also one about resizing photos, but if you would like some help with working out how to resize for printing, just ask here on the board :)

Cheers
Prue
