Just taken expert opinion from my wife who lived in Doncaster all her life up to 3 years ago.
1)Spansyke Street -still there
2) Littlemoor St. -believed merged into Littlemoor Lane
3)St, James Street - street still there, but cleared during 1950s and replaced by tower blocks.
4)Catherine street and Queen Street cleared at the same time.
5)Holindrakes Yard - Never heard of it!! (Sorry)

Lovely...thankyou, I have seen the 2 houses on Spansyke Street on Google maps street view (they are opposite each other!!!)
Hollindrakes Yard was on St. James Street (that was the address on the census)
Thanks for your reply

Just up-dated my expert witness about Holindrakes Yard, in view of its location she was surprised she had never heard of it.Spansyke Street is in Hexthorpe, Catherine Street Hyde Park, St. James St. Balby Bridge; others Balby.

It was the 1911 census that the Yard appeared on, maybe it was just a little alleyway or something that has since gone... ???

Though the street name remains the area was cleared in the 1950s-1960s and replaced by tower blocks.

hi
I actually lived at 67 Littlemoor street in the early sixties We migrated to Australia and I'm finally visiting in about a month.  Its sad that the house has gone but it was definitely at the back of the railway shunting yards and we used to play on the allotments.  The houses were condemned in the sixties and pulled down

You will find the railway operations have been streamlined; i.e. largely shut down, presumably in the name of progress!
