RAF Manby 1949

Dose anyone know if there is somewhere where I could obtain a list of crew/persons aboard a Lancaster which took off from RAF Manby on the 8th November 1949.

Did the aircraft crash, do you know what squadron it was from , where it was going.  this could all help.As it was 1949 I assume it wasn't a hostile sortie.

I can't claim to have heard of every RAF base but I've never heard of Manley! Is there any chance this might be a typo for Manby which is in Lincolnshire and which I believe was operating Lancasters in 1949?

Hi Pete I thought it was strange, I've never heard of Manley. My domain is Yorkshire and Halifax's . never thought of Manby I found a Manley in Cheshire, It's very near where I live and there was never an airfield there that I know of. now I might be able to help him/her. Dave.

No Lancaster is reported as having crashed that date, so may I ask what information you are after? Was someone you know on board?

Any information you already have may help us. As to who maybe on the aircraft on this particular flight, the place to look would be the squadron ORB (Operations Record Book), which you would need toseek through the National Archives. If you know the squadron then I could give you the relevant reference, and a couple of contacts who maybe able to get copies of the relevant page(s)...(TNA are basically refusing to copy pages to ORBs or charging outlandish amounts).

Depending on squadron, there maybe guys over on rafcommands who already have a copy of the ORB (though ost of us tend to only have them for the war years, some have expanded their collections).

Hi kyt

My father wasat RAF Manby at this time doing national service and was taken on this flight as a passenger. He would like to know the names of the other passengers and crew members (he can't remember them after all this time)
About two hours into the flight they had to turn back as they lost radar.
My fathers name is E L Thomas
