Greig Family Lasswade
« on: Wednesday 13 October 10 21:00 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on Greig family in Lasswade. GGgrandfather John Greig born in Lasswade, abt 1801.  Joined The Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, 79th regt of foot.  He went with the 79th to Canada.  Looking for any Greig family in the area around 1802.  I am just at a dead end and have no more information. John and his wife died in 1834 due to the Cholera outbreak in Canada.

Hello.
I have a Henrietta G Drummond married to a Joseph Greig on the 24th April 1914 at 249 North High Street, Musselburgh. He was a widower when they married, aged 45 and a pottery worker. His address was 8 Livingstone Place, Portobello. He was born in Portobello, as was his father Alexander. His mother, Joanna Kirkwood was from Inveresk.
My Drummond family lived all over Midlothian and some of the family had lived in Lasswade.  These mining families moved where the work was. I don't have anything else on Joseph and Henrietta, and I realise that my dates are a bit further on than your's, but you never know!

Regards
Davina

I find this interesting as John named his son John Alexander. Thank you for the info on the mining family.  Also at this time was a book maker in Lasswade, I am researching him also.

Thank You , Jackie
