Look-up Request - Alan Henry WILTON
« on: Wednesday 13 October 10 15:49 BST (UK) »
I am currently researching an Alan Henry Wilton who was killed in a plane crash in 1944 in Northamptonshire.   His parents were Alfred and Annie Wilton of Bristol and his wife was Phyllis Mary Wilton of Southmead.   He was 28 years old at death which makes his birth year approximately 1916.   He was in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves as a Pilot/Sergeant.
Can anyone help me with any information about him or family please?

From freebmd

Alan H Wilton birth registered q/e  Jun 1916 Bristol vol 6a page 141. Have a look at freebmd for siblings and his parent's marriage so you can order certificates which can take your search further back.

I too am researching Alan Henry Wilton.  He is my godfather.  Alan was my father's best friend.  They were apprentices together at Trades School in Bristol.
When WW2 broke out they went to enrol together for the Royal Airforce.  Alan was accepted but my late father, Stanley DAY, was declined due to colour blindness.  My family immigrated to Australia in 1950.  All my father told me was that Alan was killed in action in 1944 when his plane crash landed after a sortie.
I have since learned that his memorial plaque is in the Briston Canford Cemetery.
I will be extremely pleased if you can provide me with any information regarding my godfather Alan.
