feedback on this 'restoration' if possible please

Hi all
Following the feedback and advice you gave with a previous attempt of mine, I decided to try and restore this one. Although it took many hours to complete I was pleased with the result. Am I getting there - slowly. A before and after image for anyone who would like to comment on, or offer advice as to how it could be further improved. Thanks to you all

I can't give advice, but I have started to like see the before and after photos, and I am amazed at the talent that I see out there, well done to every one of you....and I had to say well done to you too, you are right to be please with your work, I wish I could be so clever.

I wouldn't say you are getting there Brennan, I'd say you are definately already there...nice restore.

Thank you both Lee and Bill for your kind comments and support. Iam not at all clever, just trying to learn how to restore old photos of which I have many and have a great interest in old photos

Well done That is really good.
Heres another little hint...when there are pen marks it is sometimes easier to work in the blue channel ....

I can't comment on the pic as I have no expertise whatsoever but can you tell us the date of the pic as the clothes are quite distinctive and not something I've seen before Thanks

Have yet to discover the blue channel but hopefully will do so in time as many of the photos I am attempting to restore have biro marks. I particularly like your restoration work a you manage to clean and restore photos without changing the facial features. This is the area I find the most difficult. Thank you for your hints

Hi Candleflame
The photowas taken about 1920 in Co. Wicklow Ireland. The scarf is fairly typical of what men wore particularly along that East coast of Ireland at this time.

Many thanks - it all adds to the knowledge base! I was intrigued by his jacket trim on the sleeves as well as the scarf.
