Berteotti/Dallape

My husband's g gr father was Giacomo Berteotti from Cavedine in Northern Italy married to Guila Dallape.  They went to Canada and US but I believe settled in Lethbridge Alberta.  Does anyone know the best way to locate Italian BMD records?  The LDS doesn't come up with anything. Any help appreciated.

Have you looked at the resources and some of the threads on the Europe board for information on Italian BMDs?

Are you searching for any information in Canada?

Thanks, I will do that.  I did look at the Canadian ones and couldn't find marriage information on Giacomo and Guilia, I know they married in lethbridge.  I have not had much time to look yet but will keep searching!

You didn't say whether you had any information from passenger lists, so my apologies if you already have this.

On Ancestry, I found a Guilia Dallape, age 21, on a New York Passenger list, arriving New York on October 14, 1913 aboard the Rochambeau.  Perhaps this is your ancestor?

If you don't have access to Ancestry, you can view the manifest on the Ellis Island site.  It is free to use but you must register.  On the Ellis Island site, the name is transcribed as Guilia Dallope.  The manifest is 2 pages so remember to look at both.  It gives the name of her sister that she is going to in Diamond City, Alberta which is a hamlet 8 miles north of Lethbridge.

If you search Giacomo Berteotti on the Ellis Island site, you will find him arriving New York on May 16, 1909 aboard the SS New York.  He's 26 years old, seems to be travelling with a family member and his final destination is Lethbridge, Alberta.  I find this manifest difficult to read.

Thanks, I will take a look at the newspaper archives. I have got the immigration records you mention, they are often very hard to decipher.  Didn't know about Ellis Island site, that might come in useful for some of my Scottish ones! Thanks again.
