Hello aghadowey and Elaine
Lovely surprise to find your posts as I had given up checking this page. Yes I
certainly am still looking for this Gillespie family. Seems all notices from 'L'derry Sentinel' and 'Col Chronicle' are mine. I have marriage certificates for Gillespie=Murdoch and Kennedy if anyone interested. Would love to hear more. I live Sunshine Coast, Queensland, but now feel the world isn't so large after all.     Thanks         lorisg

Hi Lorisg
I am looking for a Ruth Gillespie born about 1796
to James Gillespie and Mary ?
this info maybe wrong as it comes from another person
and I have been unable to find any references to them
Ruth married Solomon Given (Govan) in Ireland around 1821/22
their children were all born around the Dunboe and Coleraine area ,
on the 1831 census for Dunboe there is a Gillespie family and a Given family
but still unable to connect them

Coleraine Chronicle, 30 May 1863: At Exorna, parish of Dunboe, on the 28th inst., Mary Anne, wife of Mr. James Gillespie, aged 66 years.
Just realised I'd already posted this.

Yes thank you aghadowey, I didn't have that record before, so I was delighted to see your previous post. Do you have access to someone's index to those newspapers?     Regards       Loris

Elaine, sorry my  Irish records don't go back beyond the 1832 Census of landowners, when there were two James Gillespies of Dunboe, one of Exorna and the other of Blakes, but several from other parishes.  Not much to go on is there?       Regards                 Loris

Have Coleraine Chronicle index 1844-1869 (births, marriages, deaths) and Londonderry Sentinel 1829-1869 (also bmd).

Elaine, I have been sent a copy of some Baptisms from 1st Dunboe church, Can't find any of mine, but there is a bapt of Betty Ann on 13 Sept 1807, dau of Solomon GIVEN of Blakes. and a William, bapt 0 Aug 1905, son of Thomas GIVIN of Blakes.  Do you have these records?  Can anyone find baptisms for the children of James Gillespie of Exorna, between c 1820 and 1843?  I'd be so grateful for any suggestions.            lorisg
