« on: Saturday 09 October 10 19:34 BST (UK) »
Hello. I am trying to find out some information about my ggg grandparents. Michael McDonald born 1805, Ellen ? born 1816. They had James 1839 and Ann 1842 both born in Co Mayo. Their 3rd child John was born in 1844 in Yorkshire.
Can anyone help?
Thank you
Suzanne
Just found out that Ellen's maiden name was Barratt

Since the births & marriage of Michael and Ellen are well before the start of civil registration you will need to you will need to investigate parish records. To do this you first need to establish the family religion and also a more detailed location for them at the time (i.e. parish, town or townland), so that you can check what, if any, records are available for the timeframe you are interested in.
