On pilotsearch, Joseph Bruerton ch at St Lawrence Darlaston 9th May 1813 to Joseph and Phoebe. Joseph and Phoebe Dangerfield married 25 Aug 1805 Darlaston.
No Elijah born about 1853, but there is an Elijah ch 14th June 1818 ST LAwrence to  Joseph and Phoebe. Elijah's (1853) father? Or maybe a family name. Quite a lot of Brueton's on this site.
Happy hunting!

thankyou for your replies

patrish , joseph is listed as a - gun breech forger - ,
a relative did mention that they  may have been involved with a scrap iron business , "iron furniture reformers"  i think she said ,
this business may have been scrap iron based also
 - messrs  bruerton , cale and holland  iron works - nr bilston , (one of my grt grandads was a holland , b . late 19th c ? )
goldie , thankyou so much , i think this must be joseph , not only have you found two more generations but the spelling has probably given us the  correct pronunciation of our name !, (something we have always wondered about) ,pronounced bruerton instead of bruton
thanks again

Just to add a couple of twigs onto the tree, Elijah (the son, assuming it is he) had twins baptised in Saltley at St Saviour's/ Details -  Lily and Mary, twin daughters of Elijah and Janet BRUETON, of 59 Havelock Road, he an engine driver (probably with the Midland Railway, working at Saltley engine sheds), twins born 4 July 1885, baptised 19 April 1899.

Hi    I am the Gt Gt Grandaughter of Elijah Brueton and have a full family tree.    Elijah had
two sons and twins   I am descended throughLeonard who had two sons Ronald and Leonard
Leonard being my father.   His other son was Howard and he had twin daughters May and Lily.
As I can account from all Leonards part of the family tree I think you must come from Howards side
which has been part of an ongoing puzzle for me.   Howard married Louisa Caroline Griffiths in 1906
and they had two sons and two daughters.   Howard died in 1918 and Louisa married again (Bythall)
It is those four children and their offspring that I am trying to locate now.   They are Howard Elijah born Aston 1908 Lily May Birming 1910 Edith Born 1911 and Leonard J Born Aston 1915.      Please get in touch and lets see if I can help sort everything out.   I know we are related by asome of the names you mention.   PatBw
