Hello Alex...

I think Janette was just suggesting the "many hands make light work" principle.

For instance, I have a reference to a Timothy CROWLEY marrying a Hannah FAHEY in 1897 which lists parents. If the request had it's own thread I'm sure there's others who have similar snippets of info. Saves you re-inventing the wheel :-)

It is been proven and stated on here any number of times there is not enough people in Otago/Southland/Invercargill willing to donate their time for Roots.Chat inquiries, lookups etc.  I personally cannot be bothered nor do I have the time to be chasing someone else's tail and following up on the same work.

Check on the RAOK website they will tell you the same thing.

I will stand aside for experience and minds greater then my own to take over.

I am sorry to read your recent post, as I have received wonderful assistance from everyone at RChat.  I'm not sure why you write that you will stand aside for experience and minds greater than your own to take over, for surely it is only through active participation in contributing to RChat threads that any RChatter develops their experiences and their minds. 

I am quite certain that neither Beg nor Janette sought to cause any offence to you or to anyone, and I have read and re-read this thread. 

May I ask you to join in as part of a team effort towards a thread that I have started today here on the NZ board, I am quite sure your experience and knowledge of The South would be of value to our efforts!

Couldn't agree more Janette.   If the surname was in a title of its own, it is easier to see, there are heaps of people out there in cyberspace who just by chance google a name, and up pops the thread.
