Thanks Joburg.  I have been trying to find this marriage for so long  and now you have supplied the information.  All I knew about the marriage is the surname of his wife as Whelen.  It looks as though you have unlocked a GREAT DOOR for me.

Would you have any birth details under them at all?  Frederick Bedford was supposedly born in Summerset in about 1836.  I cannot find him at all.

Hi,
   You can't order a certificate as the marriage was before Sept.qtr 1837,BUT, you could get in touch with Bristol Record Office and give them the date and church and I'm sure they will photostat the page,word of warnng, I think they will charge you for the service.
I don't have any baptism info.

Hello Joberg

Sorry to bother you again.  (I am a little excited with this find).

Are the codes from a church church regeister? or, is it a Bristol Rcord Office register?  I need to know so that I can quote to the person for lookup.

Also, Edward must have remarried again because in his will he states his wife as "Mary ann".  Now, his son came to Australia I think about 1856 for what reason I don't know.  I can only assess it might have been because of the marriage bust up and maybe Elizabeth came out here with him.

Are you able to see if there is any record of Edward marrying Mary Ann? Edward and Mary Ann had two daughters (according to his will - he didn't state their names and, he never mentions his son here in Australia in the will so I am assuming the marriage breakup must have been a bad one).  Edward died in Bexley Heath, Kent.  There is also another Edward henry Bedford mentioned in the 1851 Census as a lodger in Sussex.  I don't know whether this is my Edward or not. It stated he was married.

   The
info I gave you was from work done by the Bristol and Avon Family History Soc. and as I understand it those refs.are for the actual registers,but as I said,in communication with Bristol Record Office just give the date and the church,1.10.1829 St.Johns Bedminster.
    If I were you I would follow up the other Edward as yours is not on the 1851 or 1861 for Bedminster.
    I can't help with the marriage look-up but there are a couple of pay tp view sites on the net, but you will have to narrow done the years you want to cover.
