Joseph Grange, Pateley Bridge
« on: Tuesday 05 October 10 19:58 BST (UK) »
Hi
Please does anyone know about the Grange families of Pateley Bridge. I am trying to find links between Joseph Grange who was married to Margaret Richardson and left to live in America in 1830 and Samuel Skaife Grange, as well as Joseph Grange and John who moved to Manchester. I have many Granges on my family tree and would be grateful for any inscriptions that show family relationships. I am able to access UK census images back to 1841 but am struggling for information before these dates.
My other interests are the family of Edmund Longster and Laura Hawkin.
Kind regards
Tricia

The licence for the public house The Grand Junction, Warde Street Manchester was transferred from a Samuel S Grange to a Joseph Skaife in May 1879.
A Samuel Skaife Grange died at home, The Hollies, Ashton upon Mersey on 22 February 1885 aged 66.

Hi everyone, am looking for some more help finding family.  Fred Voller Grange was a cousin of my great grandfather, and I think my grandfather might be named for him.  I have his daughter's wedding write up from a UK newspaper and it says that her father hunted regularly with the Cheshire Hounds and was widely known in the show rings at Olympia and Richmond and at the big shows of the country as the owner of Desire, a celebrated jumper.  He is buried at Acton church. Fred's wife was a Thelwall from Farndon.

I will appreciate any help.  Thanks

Hi everyone, still trying to find any info regarding Samuel Skaife Grange and his family.  He is from Pateley Bridge and also says Ripon sometimes on the censuses, Yorkshire.

Also wondering if anyone has ever heard of The Hollies, Ashton upon Mersey.  Samuel Skaife Grange and his family lived there from around 1871 thru 1932 or so when his daughter-in-law, Annie Grange, passed away.

Thank you

Frederick Voller Grange was born in Manchester about 1877, and is listed as a race horse trainer in 1904, when he lived at Oak House in Farndon, Cheshire.  He later moved to Alvsaton Grange in Nantwich.  His daughter was Binty Grange, named, as I understand, after one of his race horses which had done rather well!  I am related to his wife Gertie Thelwall, who was my grandmother's cousin.
