I have searched 1841,1851,1861, and the 1871 ... Nothing at all. The family was in America by the early 1870's. They appear in records here. They claim to be from aberdare in Hannah's obit. There is also a letter from a John Evans during the 1890's from Aberaman who talks about aberdare. I am at a loss why this family doesn't show up at all. Jane was born in 1856. And Sarah was born in 1861 which I failed to mention. They did worship at the Welsh Baptist Church in America.

Mary's name was jones. This family was a mining family in Pennsylvania. The John who wrote the letter knows the family well. I am not sure what his connection is. No one returned to wales. Are there any archives that has records of people emigrating from wales? I think if there was much of these problems with genealogy could be cleared up.

Yes they appear in the 1880 census but not the 1870 census. Hannah is married in 1880 to Stephen Lewis and Mary is married to William Evans. Go figure an Evans marrying an Evans!
