Fathers name do not appear on marriage entries until 1.7.1837.  Place of birth is never shown

Entries will often say OTP - of this parish.  However - that doesn't always mean they were born in that parish - only that they satisfied the necessary residential requirements to marry there (I think about 21 days)

Hi,

6th Dec 1808 to Ann Watson, by Banns, both used their mark "x". Witnesses Thom. Norris & Mary Pennyman* (both signed their own names); James Palmer Curate. *could also be Perryman - sorry!

Both of the Parish (but as Carolew says this does not mean they actually lived there)

Junev

PS there is also a william Blower who married in 1803 in Westminster but he could write his own name.

Hi

There are no birth registrations before 1st July 1837 when civil registration began. Before that there is only information in parish registers for baptisms, marriages and burials.

Ancestry has the parish registers online for baptisms for 1813 onwards and will eventually place earlier parish entries online.

Ancestry offers a two week free trial. Many libraries subscribe to Ancestry so it is possible to access Ancestry records from your local main library.

This website gives information on the sort of information you will find in parish registers

I realise this is an old post, but wonder if anyone does have access to Hillingdon registers if they could find burials for Moses Treadaway and Lydia Treadaway, both about 1832 or later. Many Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Lydia Treadaway aged 68 was buried at St John the Baptist Hillingdon on 23.9.1832

There is a burial for a Moses Treadaway aged 80 on 9.5.1837 - previous address workhouse - but it was at St Giles in the Fields Camden
