Missing family FARRELL, Sunderland 1861,1881,1891
« on: Sunday 03 October 10 14:22 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am searching for my great great grandfathers family John Farrell (mariner) and his son below

John Farrell born Sunderland 1867 occupation boilermaker, wife ellen mahoney born liverpool
also his father John Farrell born Liverpool 1939 occupation Mariner wife Elizabeth ? born in Sligo, Ireland 1838 and his siblings
Peter Farrell born Durham City
Mary Ann Farrell born Sunderland
Catherine Farrell born Sunderland

On John juniors marriage cert to Ellen Mahoney in 1889 it states his Father was John Farrell master mariner deceased.

I have checked Master Mariners registers and cannot find a match.

The first census that I can find for them is 1871 living in Sans Street, Sunderland and it has been transcribed as Parrell and not Farrell, which I have corrected but I cannot find anything earlier for them or after 1871.  I do pick up John Junior living in Liverpool in 1891 in Liverpool and he had his firrst daughter in Newcastle in 1990, but a year later he is living in Liverpool so there are family connections between Liverpool and Sunderland.  The other mystery is that the eldest son Peter date of birth it would have meant his father was 14 and his mother 15 when he was born.

If anybody could help I would be really greatful.

Hi Cat

Thanks for replying thats the 1871 one that I found but I cannot find any of them on the census previous or afterwards.

I have searched for them individually too.

Hi Cat

I looked at him and his will, but he is a different John to my one unfortunatley.

Thanks again
