Thanks Cyril - do you think there's any chance of finding birth/marriage dates of Henry and these siblings , David John and Patt or am I expecting too much? It would be amazing to go back another generation. I can't find a birth for Henry on Rootireland-maybe his father originated elsewhere?

Cyril,
I've managed to find Henry Martin's marriage to Mary Kearns on 28.11.1818 at Kildare RC church. When you get a minute would you have a look at the record for me and see what other information is included? If there was a father for Henry it would mean I could start looking at another generation.
Hope this isn't asking too much.
Regards

Hi CLT,

I'm wondering if my Martin family and your Martin family might be related.  I've been told that my relatives William Martin and Elizabeth McGovern Martin were from either Carbury or Derrinturn which I know is about 18 km from Allen.  I don't know dates for them, but they had at least one son named Dennis Patrick Martin born 14 Apr 1834 who immigrated to the US in 1866.  Have you come across these names before in your research?

Thanks!

Hi BChibs-I haven't identified a William yet but it is possible he was related living so near.William is also a name which crops up regularly in our family eg William Henry.I also wonder if Henry ( my ggg grandfather) moved around quite a bit as he was an agricultural labourer.
I am still researching Henry's siblings in a hope of finding who his father was.
Dennis Patrick may have been a nephew of Henry and a cousin to Frank, Michael,Patrick, Mary and Anne all born between 1824 and 1837. I'll keep him in mind while researching and let you know if I gind anything.
Thanks for getting in touch and hopefully we'll find a connection.
