Job ARNOLD
« on: Saturday 02 October 10 05:34 BST (UK) »
Can someone find for me the birthplace of  JOB ARNOLD  born in 1767, not in Hampshire!
He died in 1842 in Southampton. He married Lucy Camis in Tichborne 21 April 1794.
Thank you for any hints,

Golfer, I have just had the marriage details sent to me from the parish registers of Southampton records office for the daughter of Job Arnold (aged 75 in the 1841 census), if he is the same man as yours then he died not long after her wedding, her name was Caroline Arnold and she married a George Baker and they just happen to be the parents of my wifes Gt/Grandfather.
I have copied the details of the e-mail from Southampton Records

I have found the marriage between Caroline and George and the details are as follows:
George Baker age 24 and a bachelor whose occupation is a Stonemason and residing at Eastern Place. George’s father has been recorded as Joseph Baker a Labourer. George married Caroline Arnold age 26 and a spinster of Eastern Place. Her father was recorded as Job Arnold a Carpenter. The marriage took place at St Mary’s Church on 16th May 1842 after Banns were called. The witnesses were Joseph Baker and Anne Butler.

Thank you Bowman (love the photo!)
Yes this is the Job Arnold, my husbands gggg grandfather.
I have tried every way I know to find his birth, but no success, I have Job's will, nothing to indicate there either!
Many thanks.

I am intrigued in your post as to why you ask for 'a birthplace not in Hampshire'? It there something that makes you think he was born elsewhere? in the 1841 census, although no place of birth is given, as in later census, there is a column whether headed 'Born in county' 'Y' or 'N' there is an 'N' against his name meaning he was not born in the borough of Southampton, and there is also an 'N' against Caroline WEEKS, I believe this is actually meant to be ARNOLD.

If you PM me I will send you a copy of the birth cert of Caroline and George Bakers son Alfred John and try explain what I think the details should be!!
