Hello

I am attempting to find the birth of my gtx3 garndmother Elizabeth Veale.  She was born c 1772 Devon ?? I think

Found her marriage on the Tavistock parish registers in 1795 marrying David Bickell.   they had 5 children.

She died in 1844 and is buried in the Tavistock Cemetery.

Ihave been unable to find her birth  place, amd parents.

Would ther be any one  who would have any connection to this lady please?

Thank you

Regards  Anna

In his booklet "Bickell of Milton Abbot", Alan Taylor states that David Bickell was a witness to the marriage of Joseph Veale in1802 and speculates that this could be Elizabeth's brother. I imagine you will know that the first (?) child of David and Elizabeth was named Sampson Veale Bickell.

I wonder if trying to trace a Joseph or Sampson might give you some pointers to the possible origins of Elizabeth.

I see Family Search Pilot has the baptism of an Elizabeth Veal on 5 June 1770 at Holbeton, daughter of Sampson and Margaret, but that does not seem very convincing to me. I cannot find a Joseph, son of the same couple. Apparently Elizabeth was living in Tavistock at the time of her marriage to David.

Hi
Yes I did know she called on son Samson Veale Bickell but I had not found that David Bickell was a witness to Joseph Veale's marriage.

If he is a brother of Elizabeth's then that gives me one sibling.   I have found quiet a few Elizabeth Veales but no one of around the right year  or they are married to differebt spouses,

On the marrriage entry in parish records she states she was ofp  may be she was working in the parish at that time I do not know as she was married before the 1841 census.

Thanks for the information.
