« on: Wednesday 29 September 10 00:39 BST (UK) »
Edith May was born in 1887 in Camberwell, London and died at St. Matthew's Hospital in Shoreditch, London on 21/01/1978..... can anyone help in finding where she would have been buried?? She married Albert Sidney Farr in 1908 in Camberwell.

Many thanks in advance  :D

Hi

In 1978 unless you know for certain she was buried she may have been cremated. The guide at the top of the London and Middlesex Rootschat boards 'A guide to burials in the London area' takes you through the difficulties in finding burials in the London area and links to all the London cemeteries and who presently manages them. It will be a matter of contacting the cemetery offices in the area she was living and starting from there, or if her husband predeceased her and died elsewhere and you think she maybe buried with him tracking his burial if that is easier. Local newspapers may give a clue if the family inserted a death notice. Local archives in the area she lived will have copies of the newspapers for their areas. Shoreditch is in the London borough of Hackney.

Hi Valda I have a similar problem as Yvonne. I did read the guide to burials in London, however I live in Australia and have no clue as to which area to search.Could you point me in the right direction so I can find the burial site of.

George Austin of 39 Montague Street, Worthing a bootmaker died at 24 St Helens Place London on 3rd October 1890 .
Administration London to Emma Austin widow effects £280

George was born in 1843 in Grantham Lincolnshire but lived in Worthing.A fellow member kindly found this information as to where George died.

Any info on the above would be appreciated so I can close this part of the family.

Hi

The first thing would be to check if he and his family lived in Worthing, but he died in London for some reason, whether his body was taken back to Worthing Sussex for burial. Have you eliminated this option before turning to look in London for the burial?

Googling St Helen's Place you find it is still there (City of London)
