Hello
There is a book in Durham Cathedral with the names of miners who died in accidents. My family lost two men in accidents and if you go to Durham Cathedral and ask the staff will open the glass case and find the name for you.

Don't forget to visit Cuthbert - he's a very special saint!

Hello Ruthie,

I grew up in County Durham and had many a school visit to the cathedral. A couple of years ago my husband and I decided to climb up the tower. The view was great but I would only recommend the climb for the very fit.

Hi Jacdee,
                  Take a look at www.cmhrc.co.uk.
This is the Coal Mining History Resource Centre.
They have lists of over 90,000 deaths in coal mining
from pre 1840 t0 1949. Find the National database
of deaths & injuries. and go to list of names, file 5,
1875-1879. If you contact them via the link,
they will also search for you.( a small donation is requested
but not mandatory)
